Live Below The Line - Affordable Recipes

May 2, 2014

When I started the Live Below the Line Poverty Awareness Challenge this week, I put out a call to my fellow Food Bloggers of Canada members and asked if they had any affordable recipe links to share. Here are some great cheap recipes to help out when your food budget gets tight.

I created a filling and flavourful Wallet-Friendly Potato Bacon Soup Recipe for the Challenge, and our whole team gave it high marks.

Ana's got a tasty looking Baked Beans with Rutabaga Hash Browns over at Heathooray. I love the idea of using rutabagas this way, will definitely give this recipe a go. (I bet kids would love this too, without needing to know that it's rutabagas, hee hee).

Gluten-free blogger Laureen has an affordable and healthful Roasted Cauliflower and Chickpeas recipe over at Fox in the Kitchen.

Margaret has posted a lovely looking recipe for Tomato Mulligan Soup/Stew recipe at Kitchen Frau. Such a eye-catching colour and unique combination of flavours.

And lastly, Louisa, who gave the Live Below The Line Challenge a try for a day to learn more and shared a breakfast recipe for Banana Oatmeal Porridge at Living Lou.

Thanks to all the Canadian food bloggers who shared their support for Team Devour & Conquer. Go check out their great recipes.

It's the last day of the Live Below the Line Challenge and we'd love your support with a donation to Make Poverty History Canada. Consider skipping a specialty coffee, beer or wine this week and donating to help those living below the poverty line. Every $5, $10 and $20 (and more!) donation helps so much.
