Thai Kitchen launches the Lucky 7 Recipe Contest

2014 has begun and with it comes The Year of the Horse in the Chinese calendar on January 31st. To celebrate, Thai Kitchen has launched an exciting recipe contest with seven Celebrity Food Bloggers from across Canada competing to create new Global Mash-up recipes using Thai Kitchen products in the Thai Kitchen Lucky 7 recipe contest.

You may have already caught wind of this delicious contest as Twitter and Instagram have been ablaze with new recipes and photographs from our Celebrity Food Bloggers posting with the hashtag #TKLUCKY7 over the past week. And now it’s your chance to get involved as voting begins today to choose the top seven recipes Canada-wide.

The seven Celebrity Food Bloggers hail from all across our beautiful country and their blogs are now stuffed to the brim with their Global Mash-up recipes. Here is the list of delicious links to visit:

Halifax’s Kelly Neil - @baconandbaileys

Montreal’s Jason Lee -  @shutupandeatMTL

Ottawa’s Don Chow - @foodieprints

Toronto’s Melissa Ramos - @sexyfoodtherapy

Regina’s Stacey Martin - @thislilpiglet

Calgary’s Jo-Anna Rooney - @aprettylife

Vancouver’s Elizabeth Nyland - @guiltykitchen

Fan voting is now open as of today, January 13 running until January 26, and showing your support for your region’s blogger via their blog’s Facebook Page TKLucky7 Contest App could make you a winner too! Every regional fan vote receives an entry to win a $100 Amazon Gift Card or a $150 Moulinex Food Processor. To find each region’s Facebook voting app, visit their website via their website links above or via the Thai Kitchen website, then click on the “Vote” icon beside their picture to view recipes.

Once fan voting closes on the 26th, the contest goes national as all of Canada (that’s all of you foodies across the country!) pick your favourite recipe from the top seven regional winning dishes on the Thai Kitchen website until February 28th.

I’ve been very excited to see all the delicious recipes coming from across Canada, and am thrilled with the new dishes that our west coast celebrity blogger representative Elizabeth Nyland at Guilty Kitchen from Vancouver has been sharing. She’s come up with some unique Global Mash-up recipes in the past week that also fit into her Paleo Diet focus that excludes gluten and dairy products and replaces them with fresh flavours in healthy recipes.

I spoke with Elizabeth recently about her experience working with Thai Kitchen products. Elizabeth says  “I have been using Thai Kitchen products as long as I can remember being in my own kitchen. Whenever I needed a good curry paste, premium coconut milk or awesome sauce, that's what I picked up. I used to work in a Thai restaurant when I was about 18 years old and he used Thai Kitchen products too in some of his curries. When I am making dishes of a different ethnicity, I tend to lean toward the products that offer a traditional flair.”

My personal favourite recipe is Guilty Kitchen’s Green Curry Beef Mushroom Sliders (pictured above) using Thai Kitchen’s Green Curry Paste, Thai Kitchen Lite Coconut Milk and adorable brown mushrooms as the slider buns. Go check out all seven of her inventive recipes at Guilty Kitchen, then vote for your favourite with her Facebook voting app here.
