Exploring, eating and writing about good food on Canada's west coast

The wind-swept coast of Eastern Vancouver Island

Yesterday was a windy, rainy, warm Mother's Day on Vancouver Island. Caught this beautiful snapshot of the very edge of Parksville, with clouds shearing off nearby Lasqueti Island and the mainland hidden behind a curtain of rain. I jokingly call these pictures "Hotel Art", as there are some natural vistas in my area that are so beautiful they almost look fake.

Every day I spend on this Island, even after living here for five years, is an adventure. But some days show me something a little extra to remind me why we braved the challenge to start life fresh and new on Canada's West Coast.
