Holiday Fireball Mulled Cider

December 25, 2012

Happy Holidays from Devour and Conquer! Thanks to all my new readers, I appreciate your support and look forward to sharing my foodie experiences with you in 2013.

One of my favourite holiday drinks has got to be mulled cider, from my Ontario childhood chugging fresh local cider standing right beside the cider press, to now - enjoying the beautiful apple varieties of British Columbia in liquid form, enhanced with a little dash of 'festive cheer'.

When my husband brought home a bottle of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky given to him by a Secret Santa friend yesterday, I was in the midst of making my annual Christmas Eve Mulled Cider and thought "Hmmmm, there's already cinnamon in the mulled cider, this should work..." And work, it most certainly did! The flaming kick of the Fireball is soothed by the smooth, hot cider and melds perfectly with the Christmas-y spices for a warming, festive drink.

The Holiday Fireball  - Hot Mulled Cider

Pour one large bottle of fresh apple cider into a pot

Add one cup of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey (can also be added by the shot to each glass if you have little ones enjoying the cider as well)

Add your favourite festive spices - I like whole cinnamon sticks, lemon zest, cloves, allspice, nutmeg and slices of fresh ginger

Bring to a boil, then remove from heat to steep or keep on low at the back of the stove.

Add a ladle and let the party begin.

Happy Holidays, good eating, comfort and joy to all!
